Focus on hunger eradication and poverty reduction
From July 1, 2025, after the arrangement of administrative boundaries, the old Buon Don district will be reorganized according to the 2-level government model, including Ea Wer, Ea Nuol and Buon Don communes.
Of which, Buon Don commune has the largest area, concentrating many ethnic minority villages and hamlets. The whole commune currently has about 570 poor households and more than 200 near-poor households.
Compared to 5 years ago, the locality has reduced nearly 300 poor households. However, the rate of poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority areas is still high, continuing to be a major challenge for sustainable poverty reduction.

At just 17 years old, Ms. Hanh Tri Knul (Buon Don commune) could not continue her studies due to difficult family circumstances. After being promoted by the local government, she registered to attend a buffalo and cow breeding class opened in October 2025.
Ms. Hanh shared: "When I first started studying, I had no experience so it was difficult to absorb the curriculum. But thanks to the dedicated guidance of the teacher, I gradually grasped the knowledge and recorded important contents to apply. After the course, I plan to raise breeding cows to improve my family's economy."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (a livestock teacher in Buon Don commune) said that when training vocational skills for ethnic minority students, the most important thing is patience, perseverance and understanding the characteristics of the people.
We have to guide each person, guide them from the stage of choosing food, arranging barns, choosing breeds to how to care for pets. This process takes a lot of time but brings clear results.
"After just a few classes, many students have learned how to choose breeding animals and build barns using the right technique and hygiene. Hopefully, after the course, people will immediately apply it to reality, develop the household economy, and contribute to reducing poor and near-poor households in the locality" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy added.

Ensuring vocational training quality
Mr. Ha Ngoc Huong - Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Buon Don said that in recent years, we have opened many vocational training classes for rural workers in communes.
The classes are implemented from many resources, including funding from the national target program. Thanks to that, vocational training is carried out methodically, according to the correct process, ensuring quality from the curriculum to the outputs of students.

According to Mr. Huong, before opening the class, the center closely coordinates with the People's Committees of communes to review suitable subjects. Buon Don commune alone has a large area, a large number of ethnic minorities, poor and near-poor households, so the determination of learners is always carried out carefully.
"Vocational training classes all ensure the number of students according to regulations. The support regime during the learning process is also fully implemented. Thanks to that, after completing the course on animal husbandry, farming, etc., people can create jobs or find suitable jobs" - Mr. Huong shared more.
