Learning a trade to create a job for yourself
Implementing Sub-project 3, Project 5 under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Buon Don District has proactively implemented vocational training solutions in line with practical needs.
Buon Don district has paid special attention to applying technology in product consumption to create on-site jobs for workers.
Right from the beginning of the period, the district government coordinated with communes, villages and hamlets to organize a survey of vocational training needs in the community. The results show that the vocational training needs of ethnic minorities are very diverse, focusing on areas such as agricultural production, animal husbandry, textiles and traditional occupations.

According to Mr. Y Si That Ksor - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Don district, the district has developed a plan to open appropriate vocational training classes, inviting lecturers with expertise and communication skills to improve learning efficiency. The goal is to equip people with practical knowledge and skills, help them proactively produce, create stable jobs and improve livelihoods.
Ms. Y Nhuan, a resident of Ea Bar commune, shared: Before, I only worked as a sharecropper with an unstable income. Thanks to attending a sewing class organized by the locality, I learned how to use a sewing machine, cut fabric, and design simple models. After the course, I was hired to work at a garment cooperative in the district, with a stable income to take care of my family and children's education."

Similarly, Mr. Y Bliu Nie in Ea Wer commune said: "Thanks to participating in the technical class of cultivating safe vegetables, raising chickens to drop hills under the national target program, I already know how to make a barn, vaccinate for animals and use organic fertilizers.
Reducing the poverty rate through vocational training
According to statistics from the Department of Internal Affairs of Buon Don district, in the period of 2021-2025, the district aims to create jobs for 4,760 workers. Of which, there are 100 workers exported, an average of creating jobs for about 950 people per year and exporting about 20 workers. The rate of trained workers is about 43%.

Linked with vocational training and job creation as the goal of sustainable poverty reduction. In 2021, the whole district had about 7,048 poor households, accounting for 42.08%, the district set a target of reducing the average poverty rate by 3% per year in the period of 2021-2025.
In terms of long-term orientation, Buon Don district focuses on linking vocational training with local practical needs, exploiting cultural advantages, indigenous resources and market trends.
Vocational training is integrated with the preservation and development of traditional occupations such as weaving, weaving, making traditional musical instruments... through innovating designs and promoting products through modern channels.

In particular, Buon Don district has actively applied digital technology in product training and consumption, integrated marketing content, online sales, and used smartphones in vocational courses.
This is to help workers access a wide market, creating stable output for local products.
