Finding a popular job is not easy
Mr. Nguyen Van Ha was born in 1997, from Lang Giang district (Bac Giang). After finishing grade 12, Mr. Ha went to Hanoi to work as a security guard for a construction site introduced by his relatives who are workers at this construction site.

After nearly 2 years of working as a security guard, after finishing the project, the group of construction workers followed the contractor to work on another project, Mr. Ha was "left alone" because he could not follow. After spending half a month wandering around the suburbs, he was hired as a security guard for a construction project in Ha Dong district (Hanoi). After 8 months, Mr. Ha was out of work again because the project was finished.
Knowing that I could not stick with this job, I went to professional security companies to apply for a job. What shocked me most was that the job, if I contacted him myself, I would earn about 7.5 million VND/month, including accommodation. If I go to the company, my salary is only 5.5 - 5.7 million VND/month. I gave up, said Mr. Ha.
Up to now, Mr. Ha has lived in Hanoi for 12 years, working for dozens of companies and mainly in the lowest positions such as security guards, warehouse staff, and even parking attendants for restaurants.
On the morning of May 20, Mr. Ha went to the Hanoi Employment Service Center to find a job early. This is the third time Mr. Ha has mastered the steps to find a job for workers. He went to refer to job information on the national job portal and the portal of the nationwide job service center system.
Holding the complete documents, Mr. Ha hopes that the center staff will connect to a suitable company. In addition to a basic background, health certificate, citizen identification card photo, high school graduation certificate, application form, Mr. Ha does not have other "categories" such as diploma, foreign language certificate...
"I personally submitted my application but also felt unconfident because my application was too thin. Of course, the same goes for other unskilled workers. Since the beginning of the year, this is the third time I have come to the center to find a job. Even though finding a common job is not easy, because many jobs require health and flexibility; after a while, it will feel difficult to follow, said Mr. Ha.
Limited opportunities for low-skills workers
On the morning of May 20, Mr. Ha returned home with an appointment to "wait for connection" because there was no information suitable for his request. While waiting, Mr. Ha continued driving a motorbike taxi.

Nearly 30 years old, 12 years in Hanoi, I have been almost penniless because of my unstable job, no savings, no wife or children. If I had returned to my hometown at this time, I would not have imagined what I would do, even though my parents saw me struggling, and had urged me many times to have no future. I will arrange for the rest of this year, if it is not good, I will return to my hometown to grow seaweed and some seaweed," Mr. Ha said sadly.
Not only Mr. Ha, many workers without qualifications and skills are facing many difficulties, struggling to live in the city because their jobs do not ensure income, or being fired when the business is facing difficulties, or if they have jobs, they are just unstable and unsustainable jobs.
According to Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, most workers lose their jobs when businesses cut staff or encounter difficulties with low-skills. To help them return to the labor market, in addition to support policies, the biggest concern at present is vocational training and skills improvement. However, through long-term monitoring, we have found that despite being consulted, most workers who lose their jobs only go to the center to submit applications for unemployment benefits or submit new job applications but are not interested in choosing vocational training and improving skills, said Mr. Thanh.
Dr. Vu Trong Binh, Director of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs), said that the biggest challenge today with the labor market is the ability to change the career of workers is weak when the labor market information is limited. At the same time, the skills and qualifications of workers do not meet the change of employment structure.
According to the representative of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, at the session, unskilled workers had 768 recruitment targets but the salary was always below 10 million VND/month. There are 830 targets for income from 15 million VND/month or more, accounting for 49.91% of the total recruitment targets. Notably, this is the main income level for study abroad, labor export or management positions in companies and enterprises; some vocational recruitment positions such as engineer, university degree.
