On July 27, Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the Memorial Stele of Heroic Martyrs of Regiment 10, Division 4, Military Region 9 at Cai Nuoc Martyrs' Cemetery. On the same day, the locality also started upgrading the Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery and restoring the Temple of 10 Heroic Martyrs of Hon Khoai Uprising. The total investment of 3 projects is more than 38 billion VND.
The stele to commemorate the heroic martyrs of Regiment 10 has a total investment of 3.5 billion VND, including a 104m2 stele house along with ground leveling items, embankments, yards, internal roads and flower beds. The project is built at Cai Nuoc Martyrs' Cemetery, where 578 martyrs of Regiment 10 are resting, expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province Le Thi Nhung said that Ca Mau - Bac Lieu was once a fierce battlefield of the Southwest region. Regiment 10, Division 4, Military Region 9 is the main force unit that fought with the local army and people, making many feats of arms, contributing to the victory of the resistance war to liberate the South and unify the country.
According to Ms. Nhung, the construction of the Memorial Stele not only expresses gratitude to heroic martyrs but also contributes to preserving historical values and educating patriotic traditions for future generations.
Also on the same day, Ca Mau province started the project to upgrade and renovate the Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery with a total investment of more than 29 billion VND and the project to restore and upgrade the Temple of 10 Heroic Martyrs of Hon Khoai Uprising with a budget of more than 6 billion VND.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, after many years of use, these works have deteriorated. Internal yards and roads have subsided and been flooded when it rains heavily; many items such as traditional houses, stele houses, temples, management houses and some graves are damaged and need to be repaired and upgraded.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang said that investing in projects not only meets the needs of people's visits but also contributes to building "red addresses" to serve revolutionary tradition education, fostering the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude".
