Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued an action plan to improve the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in 2025.
Can Tho City aims to improve the investment and business environment in an open, public, transparent and favorable direction, creating conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises and investors to invest, produce and do business.
Strive to improve the PCI index, with the goal of increasing the annual PCI synthesis score by 1-2 points; improve the ranking position and achieve results in the group of "localities with good management quality".
Maintain stable component indexes that are in high positions, continue to upgrade limited indexes, improve low-ranking indexes to ensure even and sustainable development in the annual PCI rankings.
Accordingly, the city focuses on proposing solutions to improve 10 component indicators of PCI, including: costs of entering the market, land access, transparency, time costs, informal costs, equal competition, government dynamics, business support policies, labor training and legal institutions.
In which, focusing on promoting administrative procedure reform, cutting business barriers, improving the quality of public services; publicizing and transparently planning and projects; strictly managing land, creating favorable conditions for businesses to access production and business premises; enhancing training and providing high-quality human resources to meet market demand.
Can Tho City People's Committee requests departments, branches and localities to promote a sense of responsibility, tighten discipline and administrative discipline, and at the same time promote the fight against corruption and negativity. Each agency and unit must have a specific plan to increase the score of the responsible components, contributing to the common goal.
The leader of the People's Committee of Can Tho City affirmed that raising PCI is not only to improve rankings but also a strategic solution to create an open and transparent investment and business environment, thereby attracting businesses, promoting sustainable economic and social growth and development of the city.
Before the merger, in 2024, the PCI scores of the 3 localities were as follows: Can Tho City reached 70.01 points, ranked 11.11, Hau Giang reached 70.54 points, ranked 7; Soc Trang reached 64.5 points, not ranked. In the period of 2022-2024, the combined scores of all 3 localities tend to increase and remain stable, not fluctuating too much. Component indexes also have ups and downs every year, but there is no sudden increase or decrease too much.
