According to Can Tho City Police, on November 26 and 27, the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environment coordinated with the Department of Rural Development and Forestry, Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control, Department of Agriculture and Environment, People's Committees of communes, wards, and grassroots police to establish interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct a high-level propaganda campaign, fight, and handle violations of the law related to the protection of wildlife species and the protection of aquatic resources in the area.
The peak period lasts until the end of December 2025, focusing on surprise inspections of establishments with signs of trading, illegal captivity, and transportation of wildlife, migratory birds and endangered and rare aquatic products; at the same time, strictly handling the act of using electric pulses, explosives, and chemicals to illegally exploit aquatic products.
In the first 2 days, the force inspected 12 facilities in Nga Bay, Dai Thanh, Hung Phu wards and Nhon Ai and My Tu communes. Thereby, 2 facilities for holding and trading birds and mice were discovered... but could not present their origin documents. The working groups made records and requested additional documents according to regulations.
During the inspection, the interdisciplinary groups disseminated laws on wildlife and aquatic resource protection, and at the same time required establishments to sign a commitment not to hunt, capture, transport, store, buy, sell, process, advertise or display products related to wildlife and aquatic products.

Previously, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued Plan No. 162/KH-UBND to deploy a peak period of propaganda, combat, and handling violations of the law related to the protection of wildlife species and the protection of aquatic resources in the city.
The plan requires strict implementation of the Government's instructions on protecting wildlife and migratory birds and preventing exploitation of aquatic products by destruction methods. Can Tho City emphasizes the need to strengthen management, inspection, control and strictly handle all violations according to the motto "no forbidden areas, no exceptions", while combining legal measures with communication to create sustainable changes in community awareness.
The peak period will be implemented in November - December 2025 throughout the area, especially at markets, ecological zones, river banks, canals and points at risk of violations.
