After upgrading and repairing, there has been a lot of damage
At the end of June 2024, the Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board received the construction packages 1 and 2 of the Cua Tung Fishing Port upgrade and repair project. By October 2024, due to the impact of storm No. 6, the fishing port area was damaged, and by the end of April 2025, some new damages had occurred.
At the wharf, erosion occurred with a length of 8m, causing landslides at the foot of the wharf, affecting the safety of anchorage; in the fish classification house area, there were many bulbs that could not be lit; 4 points of the brick floor were sunken, peeling, broken, affecting the overall aesthetics of the area and causing unsafety for passersby.
In particular, the contractor has constructed a new Cua Tung Fishing Port Transformer Station but has not installed any power line bienals. Because this device is not installed, the compensation system cannot automatically operate according to the actual load, reducing the power coefficient, losing power and incurring costs. The lack of power source mobilization equipment risks making it unsafe to use electricity.
According to the Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board, the above damages and problems are within the scope of the Cua Tung Fishing Port upgrade and repair project invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and are under warranty from June 28, 2024 to June 28, 2025.
To ensure safety, maintain the quality of the project and efficiency of operations at the fishing port, the Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to give its opinion to the investor, requesting an actual inspection of all damage that has occurred and is being repaired in accordance with regulations on project warranty.
Construction of fishing ports makes it unsafe
In addition to the Cua Tung Fishing Port upgrade project, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is also implementing the Cua Viet Fishing Port upgrade and repair project (Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).
According to the Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board, during the demolition of the old wharf, many reinforced concrete waste objects fell into the area of the ship's quay and a concrete pile at the foot of the old wharf had not been salvaged. The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has allowed the project's No. 1 port to be temporarily handed over and put into use, but the end of the port was shaken strongly when affected by storms of level 6 or higher. The anchorages are arranged poorly, making it difficult to anchor the boat, causing unsafety for the boat.
"The concrete piles at the foot of the old bridge that have not been salvaged are very dangerous, and ships passing by are at risk of being stabbed by this concrete piles. We have requested many times but the construction unit has not yet fixed it" informed the leader of the Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board.
Faced with the shortcomings in the Cua Tung and Cua Viet Fishing Port upgrade and repair projects, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province has requested the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to direct the construction unit to urgently overcome the shortcomings and shortcomings. At the same time, it directs relevant professional departments and units to strengthen inspection and supervision of the construction unit's repair process according to regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Director of the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the contractor has repaired the damage and problems in the Cua Tung Fishing Port upgrade and repair project. For recommendations related to the Cua Viet Fishing Port upgrade and repair project, the unit will request the construction unit to thoroughly resolve them in the coming time.
