On December 13, the Quang Tri Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board confirmed that it is requesting the construction unit to speed up the construction progress of the project to upgrade and expand the fishing port combined with the Nam Cua Viet storm shelter anchorage area (Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).
The above project was approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province for detailed construction planning in 2016 with a planning area of 6.43 hectares. In September 2020, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province approved the feasibility study report with a total investment of 130 billion VND, the project implementation period is until December 31, 2024.
The project, after completion, will meet the criteria of a type I fishing port and a storm shelter for provincial fishing vessels; ensure the safety of people and property of fishermen in Quang Tri and the Central region during the storm season, combined with the development of logistics services for sea trips, helping fishermen feel secure going out to sea and sticking to the sea.
To achieve the set goal, the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) directed the construction units to focus and resolutely organize many construction teams. However, the construction process of piling phase 1 of wharf 2 caused shock, cracking houses and architectural works of the people.
After that, the investor requested an independent appraisal and prepared a dossier to assess the property damage of the houses of the 18 households that made the request. However, the dossier went through many review steps and had many related legal documents, so it took a long time.
On December 18, 2024, households in Phu Hoi village (Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province) requested to stop and not continue construction of the project, before the project investor made payment for damages caused by house cracks.
The people's obstruction of construction has affected the project's progress, so the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has requested the People's Committee of Trieu Phong district to coordinate with the Quang Tri Provincial Police and the investor to propagate and mobilize the people; at the same time, have a plan to ensure construction and implement compensation for people whose property has been cracked.
After the units came to dialogue, on the afternoon of December 12, the people agreed to let the construction unit continue implementing the project.
Mr. Le Vinh Phu - Deputy Director of the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board said that after the people agreed, from the afternoon of December 12, the construction unit continued to implement the construction, and is speeding up the project progress. Currently, about 90% of the volume has been completed, and the remaining work is being completed to ensure the project is completed on schedule before December 31, 2024.
