Lach Bang Fishing Port (Hai Binh Ward, Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa Province) has been experiencing stress for many years, directly affecting the entry and exit of ships and fishermen's seafood consumption activities.

Many fishermen in Hai Binh ward said that the fishing port was invested in and upgraded in 2003. Previously, ships entering and leaving the port were quite convenient, and unloading seafood from ships to shore was also easy. However, in the past 5 years, the fishing port area has been seriously silted up.
"Every year, it becomes more serious than last year, the fishing port is increasingly silted up, making it very difficult for ships to enter and exit, especially large ships and high-capacity ships" - Mr. Hoang Van Sau (residing in Hai Binh ward) shared.

According to the fishermen's reflection, there are days when the water level drops, boats cannot enter the port, forced to anchor far away and use small boats to transfer goods to shore, causing waste of costs, time and effort. Therefore, fishermen hope that the authorities will soon renovate, dredge and clear the channel.
In 2022, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) to implement dredging and clearing the channel area. By September 2023, the underground rock dredging and clearing project had been approved with a total investment of nearly 70 billion VND, expected to be completed in the period of 2023 - 2025. However, to date, the project has not been completed.

According to the representative of the Lach Bang Fishing Port Management Board, the silting situation at the port area has been going on for many years, greatly affecting the activities of fishermen.
"Currently, there are about 600 ships regularly operating at the fishing port. In recent years, due to the situation of silting, many ships have had to wait for the tide to rise before being able to dock, significantly affecting the work and quality of seafood after fishing" - Mr. Dinh Tien Dat, representative of the Lach Bang Fishing Port Management Board, said.

The representative of Nghi Son town's leadership added that the fishing port dredging project has been restarted and is under construction, aiming to soon clear the channel and clear the underground rock, creating more convenient conditions for ships to enter and exit.
