Accordingly, due to the impact of storm No. 10, Mo bridge - connecting the two banks of Cau Chay river (in Xuan Tin commune, Thanh Hoa province) - was swept away by floodwaters, making it difficult for hundreds of households to travel.
Not only does it cut off travel, the bridge collapse also seriously affects the lives, activities and learning of students.
According to the representative of Xuan Tin Commune People's Committee, Mo Bridge is about 100m long, nearly 4m wide, and was built in 2017. Since the bridge was washed away, the travel of more than 400 households on both banks has encountered many difficulties. To get to the other side of the river, many people were forced to go around more than 7km.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, at the scene, the bridge was completely washed away, with both sides of the bridge abutment subsided and broken. To ensure the safety of the people, the local government has set up barriers to prevent people from passing through the collapsed bridge area.
A representative of the People's Committee of Xuan Tin commune said that after the incident, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency situation, requesting the locality to urgently come up with a solution.
After that, the People's Committee of Xuan Tin commune proposed a plan to build a new Mo bridge, with an expected length of 150m, 8.5m wide, and a total investment of about 70 billion VND from the provincial budget. The implementation period is in the period of 20252026.
