On May 27, Mr. Nguyen Huu Chung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong My commune (Phong Dien town, Hue city) said that people are overcoming the consequences of the flood that occurred at Ham Heo tourist area and A Don waterfall.
Previously, heavy rain from the upstream forest suddenly poured down, sweeping away 18 shops in Ham Heo area (Khe Tran village) and 12 stalls and shops in A Don waterfall area (Ha Long village). The flood lasted for more than 1 hour, fortunately not causing any human casualties due to the lack of visitors at the time.
The leaders of Phong Dien town surveyed the scene and assessed the damage to have a plan to support affected people.
According to Mr. Chung, the commune government has promptly received warnings from Vinasarcom Hue City, and proactively propagated to people measures to respond to heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning in the hills.
Ham Heo stream and A Don waterfall are two community tourism destinations located in the upper reaches of the O Lau river, recognized since 2021.
Every summer, this place welcomes an average of 500 - 700 visitors, and during the holidays, it can reach 1,000 visitors, contributing to creating jobs, increasing income for people and promoting local socio-economic development.
