As reported by Lao Dong, the flood in mid-June 2024 caused the old Lung Cang bridge (Thuan Hoa commune, Vi Xuyen district) to collapse, isolating nearly 100 households. The locality then strongly called for help in building a new bridge.
In early July 2024, the new Lung Cang bridge with a reinforced concrete structure and a load capacity of 10 tons was started, with a construction cost of about 3 billion VND. The Next - G Fund for the Future of Hanoi and benefactors supported the funding.
In early November 2024, during the construction process, Lung Cang bridge connecting Lung Cang and Lung Buong villages collapsed. The new bridge under construction is 44 meters long and 3.5 meters wide. At the time of the incident, it was not raining, the stream water was low, the project had completed two pillars, and was making a suspension span across the stream.
After collapsing, Lung Cang bridge will continue to be rebuilt in March 2025. Local people hope to have a hard bridge to ensure safety before the flood season.
According to the reporter's records in mid-May 2025, Lung Cang bridge is under construction, the main items have been basically completed. Dozens of workers and machinery are being mobilized to implement the project.

Currently, workers are constructing the bridge deck. Meanwhile, the bridge piers have been basically completed, and auxiliary items have been synchronously constructed.
Mr. Ly Thanh Qua (Lung Cang village) said that this is the only bridge connecting the two villages. Previously, this area had a suspension bridge across the stream. The bridge is covered and makeshift, making travel difficult.
"In June 2024, when there was a big flood, the bridge was washed away. People at that time had to wade through the stream and row rafts to get to the other side.
When the new bridge was built, the people were very happy. Wishing for a strong bridge to travel safely, without having to worry, especially during the rainy season. Only with a solid and sturdy bridge can people's lives be stable and safe," said Mr. Qua.

On May 16, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of Thuan Hoa Commune People's Committee confirmed that after the bridge collapse, a new bridge will be built at the end of March 2025. The project is expected to be completed this May.
"Currently, the contractor is pouring the bridge surface.
Local people hope the project will be completed soon to ensure safety during the flood season," the leader added.
