On February 12, Dak Peek Commune People's Committee said that the opening of bridge 16/5 is of great significance in completing traffic infrastructure, creating motivation to promote trade, socio-economic development and urban embellishment. This is also a practical project to celebrate Binh Ngo spring 2026, contributing to creating a spacious and modern appearance for the locality.
bridge 16/5 is a grade III traffic project, with a total length of 621.26m, including 4 prestressed reinforced concrete spans, the bridge deck is 14m wide. The architectural highlight of the project is a fake arch system made of steel pipes combined with decorative LED lights, contributing to increasing urban aesthetics.
The bridge spans the Po Co River. Ms. Y Tinh, a resident of Dak Pek commune, shared: "In the flood season, the Po Co River water rises and flows turbulently, while people on both banks have to depend on degraded suspension bridges for people's livelihoods. Now that the 16/5 bridge has been completed and put into circulation, people are very happy, travel, children going to school and transporting agricultural products are more convenient.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reflected, the 16/5 bridge project in Dak Pek commune (ancient Dak Glei district center) had a total investment of 86 billion VND, but construction was unfinished for many years due to lack of capital, and the contractor had to dismantle machinery and withdraw from the project.
In addition, site clearance work also faces many obstacles. Local authorities have organized pricing and publicly announced compensation plans for affected households, but some households have not agreed because they believe that the unit price is still low. Due to lack of allocated capital, the project has been adjusted by the People's Council of Kon Tum province (old) to complete by 2026.
