On May 10, according to information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, and localities to guide the Branch of HKC Environmental Technology Construction Co., Ltd. to complete a plan to treat waste drifting on the Ban Ve hydropower lake in accordance with legal regulations.

The Provincial People's Committee requests that the handling must ensure the principle of maximizing products after salvage, using revenue to offset expenses, not using state budget, not allowing loss or waste of assets and in accordance with regulations on environmental protection.
According to a report by Ban Ve Hydropower Company, in the flood season of 2025, many consecutive major floods occurred in the Ban Ve hydropower reservoir basin, including a flood due to the influence of storm No. 3 with peak flood flow reaching 12,800 m3/s, exceeding the peak flood flow checked by the project by 10,500 m3/s.
Large floods have swept away a very large amount of garbage from upstream into the lake, estimated at more than 30,000 m3. Through observation, floating garbage is mainly miscellaneous wood, rotten wood, branches, bamboo of various sizes.

Implementing the direction of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, immediately after the floods ended, Ban Ve Hydropower Company organized an inspection of the current situation and deployed garbage collection on the lakebed.
The unit has signed contracts with 2 construction units to carry out collection. However, due to the large volume of waste, located in a lake area with high mountainous terrain surrounding it, the implementation process encountered many difficulties.
Up to now, the collection has been basically completed in the lake area in Huu Khuong and My Ly communes. In the area of Nhon Mai commune, although it has been implemented, due to the complex terrain, there is still a lot of garbage floating on the lake surface.
According to Ban Ve Hydropower Company, the biggest difficulty currently is the excessive amount of waste, many locations are located close to the steep lakeside, surrounded by high mountain ranges, so very few points can be accessed for construction. In addition, the high fuel price and lack of diesel supply in Nhon Mai commune also affect the collection progress.
