From desolation to solid new homes
Under the spirit of the "Quang Trung Campaign" launched by the Prime Minister, the rapid involvement of the armed forces and authorities at all levels has brought material and spiritual support to people in disaster-stricken areas.
In the first days of January 2026, the atmosphere in Hoa Thinh commune (Dak Lak province) became more bustling than usual. In My Dien and Phu Huu villages - which were once "flood centers" during the historic floods at the end of 2025 - the image of ruin and desolation has now gradually receded into the past. On the land that used to be just bricks and mud, new houses still smelling of paint have springed up neatly and firmly.
The houses are designed to suit the harsh natural disaster conditions of the Central region: Tall foundation, with mezzanine to prevent flooding, solid roofs, solid structure, ensuring long-term safety for people. This is not only a place to shelter from rain and sun, but also a "shield" before rainy and storm seasons that may continue in the future.
Mr. Phuong Van Lanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoa Thinh commune - said that within the framework of the "Quang Trung Campaign", the whole commune has built 117 new houses for households whose houses collapsed due to floods. Up to now, the locality has handed over 31 houses; it is expected that by January 10, 74 more houses will be handed over to the people, and the rest will be completed immediately afterwards.
At the new house of Ms. Huynh Thi De (53 years old, My Dien village), soldiers of Regiment 143, Division 315, Military Region 5 are busy completing the final stages such as installing doors and rearranging furniture.
Looking at the spacious house gradually appearing after the days of loss, Mrs. De emotionally shared: "After the flood, looking at the ruins in front of my eyes, I could only sit and cry. Now that soldiers have built a new house for me, I am very happy, I don't know how to say it all.
Right next to it is the house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh and her husband. Mentioning the days when soldiers came to the village to help people build houses, Mrs. Thanh could not hide her emotion: "You guys work from morning to night, very dedicated. Everyone in the village loves you. Tomorrow when you return to the unit, my wife and I will miss you very much.
Not only in Hoa Thinh, but also in Tuy An Dong commune, joy is spreading when many new roofs have been successively handed over, including the house of Mr. Ngo Chim (101 years old, Binh Thanh village).
In addition to building new houses, officers and soldiers of Regiment 292, Division 377, Air Defense - Air Force Service also supported Mr. Chim's family to build more corridors and yards, creating more favorable living conditions for the elderly.

Quang Trung Campaign" - compassionate, ahead of schedule
After more than 1 month of implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" in the old flood-affected area of Phu Yen, hundreds of new houses have been completed and handed over to people in time. In phase 1, on January 4, 2026, Military Region 5 and units under the Ministry of National Defense and People's Committees of relevant provinces and cities organized the inauguration and handover of 155 newly built houses to people.
In Dak Lak province alone, 96 houses were handed over in this phase. The remaining houses will continue to be handed over in phase 2 (January 10) and phase 3 (January 15), exceeding the schedule by 15 days ahead of the time limit requested by the Prime Minister.
After the first phase of handover, in the eastern communes of Dak Lak province, the construction atmosphere is still taking place urgently. Before the 2026 Lunar New Year, new and spacious houses have begun to be completed, opening up hope for a warmer and more fulfilling Tet for people in disaster-stricken areas.
Mr. Ta Anh Tuan - Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee - affirmed: "The entire political system of the province, especially the armed forces and local authorities, is determined to complete the repair and construction of new houses for people in disaster areas before January 25, 2026, 5 days ahead of schedule. Houses must be safe and solid to protect people in the upcoming rainy and storm seasons.
Recognizing and appreciating that effort, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee - respectfully thanked the spirit of responsibility and affection of the armed forces and armed units. “New houses are not only a place to live, but also a spiritual support, adding faith for people to overcome difficulties and rebuild their lives after natural disasters,” Mr. Triet emphasized.
In the early days of the new year, when the Central region still bears the imprint of the historic flood, the new roofs rising from the ruins are vivid proof of the spirit of "speed - affection - for the people" of the "Quang Trung Campaign", in accordance with the direction of the Government, bringing hope for a more peaceful future for people in flood-affected areas.
