Outraged because clean water is no different from sewer water
Recently, many households living in Minh Tan area, Kien Minh commune have continuously reflected on the situation of domestic water showing signs of not ensuring quality, containing dirt and especially appearing both "strange objects" and strange smells. Ms. T.A.L - a resident of Kien Minh commune - reflected that the water discharged into the basin looks no different from sewer water, smells foul, fishy, and cannot be used for bathing or living. Therefore, people proposed that Kien Minh commune leaders clarify the matter, so that people can use clean water in the true sense.
Minh Tan Trading Investment and Service Co., Ltd. (the unit managing and operating Minh Tan Water Plant) has responded. Accordingly, from January 1st to now, the plant has implemented the construction of expanding the settling lake to improve treatment capacity and quality of water supply to serve the people. During the construction period, the plant treats water directly through the filtration tank system, not through the settling lake.
At 5 pm on January 7, the factory proceeded to open a water pipe to take into the settling lake to carry out the production process according to the operating procedure. By 7 pm on the same day, the machine operator discovered a strange smell of water. At the same time, the factory also received feedback from people about this situation.
Therefore, the factory has stopped operating water from the settling lake to the filter tank, and re-examined the entire system of water pipes from the Da Do River to the settling lake. Through inspection, it was discovered that the small water pipe from the Da Do River that had not been used for a long time had leaked into the lake. Therefore, the factory handled the leakage, washed the entire system of filter tanks and tanks, and supplied water directly through the filter tank system to the people.
Authorities direct handling

According to information from Kien Minh commune, at 8 am on January 8, the Commune People's Committee received feedback from people in Minh Tan commune (old) about the use of domestic tap water with a strange smell. Immediately after receiving the feedback, the Commune People's Committee directed the professional departments of the commune to directly go to Minh Tan Water Plant to inspect the actual situation.
At the time of inspection, the water plant had stopped supplying water from the settling tank to the water filtration tank, and was pumping all the water from the settling tank and washing the settling tank. The Commune People's Committee directed the Commune Health Station to inspect the water source and 2 households (in Tho Linh and Thu Du villages). The quick test results of water samples still ensured compliance with regulations. The inspection team made a record requesting the water plant to urgently treat the water tank and conduct water tests in accordance with clean water standard regulations to supply water to people in the area.
From the working minutes of the Commune Health Station, Kien Minh Commune People's Committee requested Minh Tan Water Plant to urgently inspect and take immediate measures to repair the deposition tanks of the plant and clean up the entire deposition, filtration, and disinfection system to ensure water quality according to regulations.
After overcoming and cleaning the entire treatment and water supply system, the commune requested the plant to re-test the water quality after treatment, report the water quality test results to Kien Minh Commune People's Committee (through the Economic Department) and notify all people in Minh Tan area of the test results. The plant is only allowed to supply water for people to use when the clean water quality meets the standards according to regulations.
The water plant pays for water for households to clean storage tanks and water pipes of their families (when collecting water bills in January 2026, the plant deducts 2 m3 of water/household).
The Commune People's Committee also assigned the Department of Culture and Society to take the lead, together with the Commune Health Station and related units, to regularly inspect, urge, and supervise the water plant in implementing sanitation and water quality testing. The Economic Department summarizes the progress of rectification of Minh Tan Water Plant, and reports to the Commune People's Committee for timely direction.
