On January 6, Mr. Ha Sy Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Dak Nong province informed about the investment in the Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) expressway project.
Up to now, the relevant agencies have basically completed the pre-feasibility study dossier for the project. With the efforts of the relevant parties, it is expected that in early 2025, the investor and relevant agencies will complete the pre-feasibility study dossier and submit it to the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province.
The State Appraisal Council will then review the project’s pre-feasibility study. According to the Dak Nong Department of Transport, the Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh Expressway project is expected to start construction no later than September 2025. The project will be basically completed by the end of 2026 and put into operation in 2027.
Previously, the Standing Committee of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee agreed to choose the option of moving the centerline of the expressway to the West by nearly 8km compared to the pre-feasibility plan.
The starting point of the route is expected to intersect with Ho Chi Minh road at Km1923+750, in Kien Thanh commune, Dak R'lap district.
This route is suitable for the planning of the North-South expressway in the West, has favorable terrain, and does not affect the construction of the Nhan Co Alumina project complex.
This route will save more than 1,000 billion VND compared to the pre-feasibility plan. However, this route will pass through the Nhan Co bauxite mine area. Therefore, it is necessary to request permission to adjust the exploitation and assess the environmental impact.
Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee has allocated 250 billion VND for site clearance and construction of service roads.
Dak Nong Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board was assigned as the investor of the service road project. Dak R’lap District People’s Committee is in charge of site clearance.
The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway project was approved by the National Assembly in a Resolution on investment policy in June 2024.
The project is expected to promote socio-economic development of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces, connecting the Southeast region with the Central Highlands.
The project will reduce the load on National Highway 14, the vital route connecting the southern provinces with the Central Highlands. The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway project has a total length of 128.8km, passing through the two provinces of Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc, with a total investment of VND25,540 billion.
