On August 20, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) held a meeting and direct dialogue with residents of neighborhood 6 related to the planning of the 1/2000 scale zoning of An Thoi urban area.
At the dialogue, representatives of households focused on reflecting, proposing and wishing the government to consider keeping and urbanizing the entire existing residential area of neighborhood 6. People shared that this is a living space, attached through 3-4 generations, carrying profound family and community historical and cultural values. People's opinions reflected that planning needs to be calculated synchronously. In addition to main routes such as the Cable Car road (old Bai Dat Do road), other crowded residential routes (such as road 975) also have high residential land density and need to be prioritized for consideration and uniform urbanization. In addition, people requested the government to publicly disclose the details of the proposed documents to submit to higher levels. At the same time, deploy widespread and root-based opinion polls to each residential group and each household to ensure objectivity, fully covering the aspirations of all residents.
Listening directly to the opinions, Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee Tran Minh Khoa and representatives of relevant departments and agencies answered and clarified the handling direction; fully recorded the contributions of the people. Thereby affirming that they will advise and propose appropriate plans to competent authorities for consideration and approval in the spirit of being in accordance with the law and in accordance with the people's wishes. In case of implementing relocation planning projects, the government is committed to strictly complying with legal regulations on compensation, resettlement support and applying compensation price lists according to standards, ensuring the best rights for the people.
