On the morning of June 19, right after a particularly serious traffic accident on the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway that left 2 people dead and 16 injured, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung directly visited and encouraged the victims at the Provincial General Hospital.
Here, Mr. Dung kindly asked about their health, sent gifts and expressed his condolences to the victims and their families. The hospital's leaders said that the health of many victims has stabilized, 7 people have been discharged from the hospital, the most serious case of which - a 19-year-old female passenger with a broken thigh bone - has been successfully operated on.

On the same day, Mr. Le Van Dung issued an urgent dispatch directing relevant departments, branches and localities to focus on overcoming the consequences and clarifying the cause of the accident. The provincial chairman requested the provincial police to urgently investigate and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate, including the responsibility of transport enterprises if there are violations.
At the same time, he requested to strengthen inspection, tighten traffic safety management on the entire expressway, strictly handle illegal parking, speeding, alcohol concentration violations... to prevent similar incidents from occurring.


As Lao Dong reported, at around 2:00 a.m. on June 19, at Km40+100 of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, passing through Binh Phu commune, Thang Binh district, a passenger bus with license plate 15H-098.25 (Mai Duc bus station, Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City route) driven by driver P.D.T crashed into the rear of a container truck with license plate 29H-928.77 pulling a trailer 29RM-000.74 that was stopped in the emergency lane in front.
The accident caused driver P.D.T and bus assistant N.V.T to die on the spot, 16 injured passengers were taken to the emergency room, including many unskilled workers such as workers, electricians, and construction workers on their way to the South to work.
The case is being further investigated by the Quang Nam Provincial Police to clarify the cause.
