Floods have caused landslides and localized flooding in some communes in the Son La highlands. Local authorities and functional forces are urgently supporting people to evacuate to safe areas and overcome the consequences of floods.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, on July 26, there continued to be rain in Son La province. The People's Committee of Son La province has directed localities to be on duty 24/24 hours, and mobilized police forces, military, mobile militia and units stationed in the area to review areas prone to landslides, and organize the evacuation of people from dangerous areas.

At the same time, urgently overcome landslides, support people to clean up and reinforce their houses with the motto "leaving no one behind in the midst of natural disasters".

At the landslide site from the positive slope to the back of the house of Ms. Cut Thi Tien's family in Huoi Co village, Chieng Khoong commune, the local government coordinated with the border guards and militia of the village to support Ms. Tien's family to move to a safe place.

"My family is Anchored, I am a single mother, only the mother and child depend on each other. Fortunately, border guards and soldiers and people in the village promptly supported the evacuation to a safe place. At the same time, it helps my family clear rocks and soil and reinforce the house" - Ms. Tien shared.

Major Nguyen Duy Hien, Deputy Political Commissar of Muong Cai Border Guard Station, said that as soon as he received the report, the Station Command sent officers and soldiers to the scene in time to coordinate with local authorities to help Ms. Tien's family move the landslide to another area, avoiding the risk of further landslides that could cause her house to be lost.

"We also assign officers and soldiers to regularly monitor the area, especially during storms and floods, to promptly help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters" - Major Nguyen Duy Hien said.

According to a quick report from localities, by 2:00 p.m. on July 26, floods and rains had caused landslides affecting 14 houses; some inner-city roads and provincial roads were flooded with positive slopes, causing local congestion.

"We have directed localities to urgently review vulnerable points that are prone to flooding and landslides; ensure evacuation, stabilize people's lives, support people during the travel process, and ensure safety" - Mr. Cong said.
