Son La - Heavy rain caused serious landslides on National Highway 4G through Ta Co Lake, Sop Cop Commune, causing the road to be cut off and traffic paralyzed.

On the afternoon of July 25, a serious landslide occurred on National Highway 4G, passing through Ta Co Lake, Sop Cop Commune, causing the road to be cut off and traffic to be paralyzed.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, a large amount of rock and soil from the positive slope fell onto the road, dragging away trees and mud, completely blocking the main traffic route connecting the center of Sop Cop commune with the mountainous communes of Son La province.

The cause was determined to be due to prolonged heavy rain in recent days, causing unstable terrain, leading to landslides.

Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties, but seriously affected the travel and transportation of goods by people in the area.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Chairman of Sop Cop Commune People's Committee, said that as soon as the information was received, the locality mobilized local forces to coordinate with the road management unit to conduct warnings, put up warning signs, direct traffic and urgently bring machinery to the scene to handle the landslide site.

According to Mr. Tuan, Sop Cop commune has steep mountainous terrain, many places have a high risk of landslides during the rainy and stormy season.

"The local government is urgently reviewing vulnerable locations, developing response plans and propagating people to limit travel through dangerous areas" - Mr. Tuan said.

Currently, the repair work is being urgently deployed, the authorities are making efforts to clear the route to soon restore travel for people.
