On March 31, Mr. Tran Nhat Thi - Vice Chairman of Di Linh District People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that up to now, the fire at Gung Re landfill (Gung Re commune) has been basically controlled, there is no longer a risk of spreading fire.
According to Mr. Thi, although the fire was basically controlled, due to the large amount of garbage, the fire was still quiet inside, causing smoke and dust to continue to spread.
Currently, the People's Committee of Di Linh district is arranging 2 water pumps, with more than 20 people divided into 2 groups to continuously water to prevent the risk of the fire breaking out again.
People present at the scene also regularly check all areas around the landfill. Thereby, promptly detecting and handling arising incidents.
On the evening of March 29, the Gung Re landfill caught fire. Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Area 3 (Lam Dong Provincial Police) quickly mobilized forces.
A specialized fire truck and nearly 20 officers and soldiers were mobilized to the scene to put out the fire.
Due to the complicated developments of the fire, with a large amount of toxic smoke and toxic gas, it was difficult to extinguish the fire to control the fire.
Officers and soldiers must use antioxidant masks and air bottles together to approach the scene to spray water to put out the fire to limit the spread of the fire.
On the morning of March 30, the People's Committees of Di Linh district and Gung Re commune also mobilized dozens of more people from many forces such as the police, militia and people to participate in supporting fire fighting.
By noon of the same day, March 30, the fire had basically been controlled and there was no longer a risk of spreading. However, the smoke column and dust from the Gung Re landfill still issued tens of meters high.
