Many serious cases of counterfeit goods discovered
Recently, voters in localities in Hung Yen province such as My Hao ward, Hong Quang commune, Luong Bang commune, Yen My commune, Viet Yen commune... have reported the discovery of many counterfeit and poor quality products and goods such as food, milk, medicine, functional foods and items with famous brands being counterfeit.
These incidents caused public confusion, seriously affecting the health and lives of the people. Voters requested the province to direct competent agencies to strengthen market management, inspection and post-inspection; strictly handle and publicize cases for people to grasp.
Receiving the recommendation, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hung Yen province said that, implementing the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee and the Steering Committee 389 of the province have implemented many drastic solutions in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
In the first 10 months of 2025, Hung Yen Market Management force inspected 585 cases, handled 523 violations, and collected more than 5.4 billion VND to the budget. Many major serious cases were transferred to the investigation agency for criminal prosecution.
At Nhat Minh Food Production & Import-Export Company Limited (My Hao Ward), the authorities discovered 33,438 cans of fake Ofood branded cooking oil worth more than 1.3 billion VND. The case has been prosecuted.
In Nghia Tru commune, the Investigation Security Agency of Hung Yen Provincial Police prosecuted the accused Nguyen Chi Thanh (born in 1997, Nghia Tru commune) for the act of producing and trading fake animal feed. The seized exhibits included 380 packs of food for fake branded cats, more than 1.6 tons of ingredients without labels, along with hundreds of stamps and sub-labels printed on fake imported enterprises.
In particular, Hung Yen Provincial Police coordinated with functional units to dismantle a large-scale plant oil smuggling case, seize more than 1 million liters of fake oil, and prosecute 6 defendants for the crime of "production and trading of counterfeit goods such as food and provisions".

Tighten inspection and consumer protection
In the first 8 months of 2025, the Market Management Department handled more than 120 violations on e-commerce platforms and social networks, and signed 827 commitments with households and businesses not to trade in counterfeit or smuggled goods.
The Department of Industry and Trade of Hung Yen province said that in addition to inspection and handling, the market management force also coordinates with media agencies to propagate, warn consumers, and notify agents and businesses to proactively prevent the consumption of counterfeit and poor quality goods.
In the coming time, the Department will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct functional forces to synchronously and drastically deploy key solutions, including strictly implementing the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee 389 on the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
The work of grasping the market situation will be enhanced in both cyberspace and e-commerce; at the same time, reviewing and classifying e-commerce platforms, websites, online business applications, focusing on groups of goods that are easily counterfeit such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, functional foods, consumer goods, and medical supplies.
The initial results achieved show the strong determination of Hung Yen authorities in protecting the legitimate rights of consumers and building a healthy business environment. Violations were all strictly handled, contributing to preventing and repelling the trend of trading in counterfeit and poor quality goods in the area.
