On September 16, Hanoi City Police said that Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi Police, is directing functional forces to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the fire that killed 4 people in his family in Thuong Tin commune.
According to Hanoi Police, at 4:40 a.m. the same day, Call Center 114 of the City Police Command Information Center received a report of a fire in Van Giap village, Thuong Tin commune.
Immediately after receiving the fire report, the City Police Command Information Center urgently mobilized nearly 50 officers and soldiers from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Teams of areas No. 5, 31, 32 (PCCC&RCH Police Department - Hanoi City) with 7 fire trucks, 1 truck carrying specialized vehicles and the City 113 Police force to the scene to coordinate with the authorities, Commune Police and local people to organize fire fighting and rescue.

Major General Nguyen Dinh Hoan, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ministry of Public Security and Major General Nguyen Hong Ky, Deputy Director of the City Police, were directly present at the scene to direct fire fighting and rescue work.
The location of the fire was a house with a temporary structure of a steel frame, corrugated iron roof, about 5m high with a floor area of about 90m2, with an emergency escape route; an illegal construction on agricultural land in Thuong Tin commune.
At about 5:30 a.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. During the fire fighting, the authorities discovered 4 dead victims and handed them over to the medical team.

Although the work of receiving news, organizing fire fighting, rescue and relief was very urgent and timely, the fire still caused unfortunate consequences.
To limit damage caused by fire while sleeping, in addition to equipping vehicles and fire fighting equipment initially, the City Police recommends that households should immediately equip an early fire warning system at home.
