Implementing the direction of the leaders of the Traffic Police Department on verifying information reflected on social networks related to a tourist boat being said to be stuck at the foot of Lam Khe bridge (Hai Phong City), the Traffic Police Department of Hai Phong City Police urgently intervened to verify and clarify.
Accordingly, at 2:20 pm on March 27, the patrol and control team of An Duong Waterway Police Station, while on duty on the Lach Tray river route, discovered a passenger ship with the symbol HP24-10 being towed from the downstream to the upstream. When arriving at the Lam Khe bridge area (belonging to Kien An ward), due to the impact of high tide, the distance between the vehicle and the bridge's clearance was only about 20 cm, posing a potential risk of collision.
Faced with the above situation, the Task Force promptly requested the vehicle to stop moving and retreat to a safe anchorage position. Through actual inspection with representatives of the shipbuilding unit and the captain, it was determined that the vehicle showed no signs of collision, and the underpass of Lam Khe bridge was also not affected.
Based on the verification results, functional agencies affirmed that there was no such thing as the ship being trapped under the bridge as information spread on social networks.
During the inspection process, functional forces made a record of handling vehicle owner HP3296 for the act of exploiting and using the vehicle for improper purposes as prescribed in Decree 139/2021/ND-CP, with a fine of 12 million VND.
The Police Agency recommends that people be cautious when receiving and sharing information on social networks, avoiding spreading unverified content that causes public confusion.
