On October 18, Tay Ninh province announced an emergency situation of landslides on the banks of the Han Canal River (Xom Cau Intersection), Muong Chai Hamlet, Can Giuoc Commune after many serious landslides appeared in this area, directly threatening the lives and property of people.
According to the report of the local government, the landslides in this area have occurred for many years, each year the soil is eroded from 1-2m, and has now encroached about 30m deep into the shore. The landslide caused 10 houses to collapse into the river, many crops, structures and hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of soil were swept away, especially serious during high tides.

Currently, the landslide area has a total length of about 300m, of which the 50m long Xom Cau Intersection section is identified as a particularly dangerous location, when the river bank is only 0.5 - 1m away from the wall of a house and the landslide depth is 3 - 5m, there is a risk of collapse at any time.
The landslide incident directly affected 10 households with 40 people living and staying in the area. Although people and the government have repeatedly reinforced it with coconut timber, the situation is still complicated, especially when heavy rain combined with high tides. If not handled promptly, landslides will occur more seriously in the coming time, especially during the time of rain combined with high tides, which will threaten the safety of people living in the above area.
In that situation, the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committee of Can Giuoc commune to closely monitor the landslide developments, proactively relocate residents from dangerous areas, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property. At the same time, propagate, warn and strictly prohibit people from getting near landslide areas, do not allow watercraft to anchor, arrange forces to guard security and order, and prepare planning plans, arrange new residential areas to relocate affected households.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to survey, select technical solutions, establish a project for landslide prevention works according to emergency situations, submit to competent authorities for appraisal and approval; the Department of Finance advises on the arrangement of funding sources for project implementation according to regulations.
