At 1:45 p.m. on November 24, in Truong Tan commune (Hai Phong city), a major fire broke out at a plastic factory, causing a column of black smoke to rise high and engulf the area. People living around the workshop panicked when they saw black smoke rolling up continuously, the burning smell spreading, many households had to temporarily leave their homes to ensure safety.
Immediately after the incident, the authorities of Truong Tan commune quickly arrived at the scene to direct the fire fighting and zoning of the fire spot. Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Dinh Khai - Chairman of Truong Tan Commune People's Committee said that the authorities had been mobilized to the maximum to control the fire.
"The fire truck of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Force approached the scene and sprayed water to put out the fire. Up to now, no human casualties have been recorded. The cause of the fire and statistics on property damage are being clarified by the authorities" - Mr. Khai said.

The fire broke out strongly because the workshop contained many flammable materials, making initial access difficult. Firefighting forces had to divide into many teams, approaching from both sides to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby factories.
The scene of the fire was sealed off to serve the investigation. Local authorities recommend that people limit access to the area to ensure safety and avoid obstructing the authorities from performing their duties. The cooling and extinguishing work is still continuing.
