The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department said that in the past, many cases of traffic accidents have been recorded as the cause of traffic accidents being drivers using their hands to use their phones while driving vehicles on the road.
Using a mobile phone by hand while driving will cause the driver to lose focus and limit his ability to observe. Therefore, when unexpected incidents occur, drivers will be confused, do not promptly handle the situation and lead to traffic accidents.
According to regulations, the act of using a handheld phone or other electronic device while driving a vehicle on the road can be fined 5-6 million VND, deducting 4 driving license points for drivers of cars and similar vehicles.
Fine from 800,000 VND to 1 million VND, deduct 4 driving license points for drivers of motorbikes, mopeds, and similar vehicles.
The Traffic Police Department added that in the first 6 months of 2025, the Traffic Police force has issued fines for more than 1,500 cases of drivers using their hands to use mobile phones while driving.
