Industrial cluster empty of factories
Industrial and handicraft clusters are planned and built to attract investors and produce and deeply process agricultural products. Thereby, creating jobs for workers, contributing to the development of local socio-economy.
However, over the past years, the Industrial and Handicraft Cluster of Chu Pah district has been lacking factories and businesses investing, and the traffic infrastructure system has seriously degraded.
The area of Chu Pah district's small-scale industry and handicrafts is dozens of hectares wide, located next to the vital National Highway 14. However, there are only a few factories operating sluggishly here.
Therefore, during this time, the Industrial and Handicraft Cluster of Chu Pah district has become an ideal place for local people to dry coffee.
Mr. Tran Van Tai - a resident of Ia Khuol commune, Chu Pah district - said: "Every year, my family transports several tons of coffee to the vacant lot in the Industrial Park to dry. Many other households also bring coffee here and spread out tarps to dry."
In addition to coffee, people in Chu Pah district also set up camps and transported Litsea trees to the industrial park to have a large area for peeling and drying.
Not yet attracted businesses to industrial clusters
Although the Chu Pah District Industrial and Handicraft Cluster is planned in a favorable location and has a large land fund, investment attraction activities are currently not effective.
In particular, the district has not really attracted leading enterprises with potential, finance and capacity to deeply process agricultural products.
Recently, at the meeting of the People's Council of Chu Pah district, term VI, term 2021-2026, summarizing the first 6 months of 2024, there were assessment data, the value of industrial and handicraft production reached 736.9 billion VND (equal to 52.61% of the plan).
District budget revenue according to decentralization up to June 20, 2024 was 77,634 billion VND (reaching 161% of the plan), an increase of 304% over the same period last year.
Although the good reports of professional agencies show that production value has reached and exceeded the plan, in reality, efforts to attract investment and form proper industrial clusters to increase processing value have not been effective.
The rate of workers in factories with stable jobs is not high and has not brought about the expected results. Although Chu Pah district is located in a large area of coffee and durian raw materials.
According to the Gia Lai Economic Zone Management Board, the province is planned for 31 industrial clusters. Of these, 13 industrial clusters have been established and detailed planning has been carried out with an area of over 466 hectares.
8 industrial clusters have carried out compensation and site clearance in whole or in part with a total investment of 184 billion VND.
The industrial clusters have attracted 72 projects and registered investments with an area of 119.56 hectares, total registered capital of VND2,279 billion.
