On the morning of June 14, information from the Center for Search and Rescue and Natural Disaster Prevention of Vinh City (Nghe An Province) said that the unit had just successfully organized a rescue for many people and tourists who were swept away by water while swimming at Cua Lo beach (Vinh City).
Due to the impact of storm No. 1, on the same morning, Cua Lo sea will have big waves, deep tides, forming strong currents and dangerous tornadoes. Despite the rough seas, many people still went swimming and were swept away.
According to initial information, the time of the incident was around 6-7 am, when many tourists were swimming in the sea when they encountered strong water, large waves suddenly pulling them away, causing some people to be pushed away from the shore.
Upon receiving the news, the Vinh City Disaster Rescue and Prevention Center quickly mobilized forces, using life buoys, water motorbikes and canoes to approach the scene.
"We have mobilized the authorities to be present immediately after receiving the report. Fortunately, there were no casualties, all tourists were brought to shore safely, said a Nghi Huong ward official.
According to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Director of the Center for Search and Rescue and Natural Disaster Prevention of Vinh City - thanks to proactively monitoring weather developments and arranging forces to be on duty along the beach, the unit has coordinated with people to promptly successfully rescue many drowning cases in the morning.
A resident of Vinh City who directly participated in the rescue said: "This morning, there were big waves and rough seas, but many people were still subjective and went far away to swim, leading to dangerous incidents".
The Vinh City Center for Search and Rescue and Natural Disaster Prevention recommends that tourists should not swim or organize entertainment in bad weather conditions, strictly follow the instructions of the rescue force to ensure safety of life.
