On the morning of October 27, Mr. Dam Hai Van - Director of Nha Trang Bay Management Board (Khanh Hoa province) - said that the rescue force had just saved the life of an 86-year-old male tourist swept away by waves while swimming in the Nha Trang ward park area.
According to initial information, tourists were swept away by large waves and were in critical condition.
The rescue forces of the Bay Management Board promptly approached, took the victim to shore for first aid and transferred him to the hospital for emergency care.
Currently, the authorities are contacting the tourists' relatives to coordinate care and support.
In recent days, Nha Trang sea area has seen waves 1-2m high, hitting the shore hard, posing a potential safety risk to people and tourists.
The Nha Trang Bay Management Board has requested the People's Committees of coastal wards and tourism businesses to increase warnings and remind tourists not to swim in the sea during bad weather.
The rescue team of the Bay Management Board has also put up warning signs in the Vietnamese - English bilingual language along the coastal parks of Nha Trang and Bac Nha Trang wards. However, many tourists, especially foreign visitors, are subjective, disregarding recommendations and swimming in deep water.
Previously, on October 16, 18 and 22, the rescue forces of Nha Trang Bay Management Board in coordination with the Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police) promptly rescued 3 foreign tourists swept away by waves while swimming in Nha Trang beach.
The Bay Management Board recommends that during rough seas, people and tourists absolutely do not go swimming, do not stand close to the edge of the water to take photos or have fun, to avoid unfortunate accidents.
