On the morning of June 5, the City People's Committee organized a launching ceremony and city-level launching ceremony to respond to the Action Month for the Environment, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee said that in 2026, World Environment Day has the theme "Globally joining hands to act for climate"; Vietnam Sea and Islands Week has the theme "Promoting sustainable marine economic development: from institutions to action".
This is an appeal to localities, organizations and people to jointly enhance their responsibility in environmental protection, climate change response and sustainable development.
According to the Chairman of the City People's Committee, Da Nang is always steadfast in the goal of building an environmentally friendly city, ecological urban area and green development. Movements such as "Green - Clean - Beautiful Sunday", waste sorting at source, anti-plastic waste... have created positive spillover effects in the community, contributing to building the image of a city worth visiting and living in.
City leaders called on all levels, sectors, businesses and all people to continue to join hands to protect the environment with practical actions such as handling waste hotspots, reducing disposable plastic, promoting waste sorting at source, strengthening the application of green technology and protecting marine ecosystems.
In addition, in response to the Action Month for the Environment, World Environment Day (June 5), World Oceans Day (June 8) and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2026, the City People's Committee also launched and organized more than 60 meaningful and practical activities throughout the city.
In which, simultaneously organize launching ceremonies to respond at the People's Committees of wards and communes on June 5; promote propaganda, deploy domestic solid waste classification at source and plastic waste management to raise awareness and mobilize the active participation of all levels, sectors, unions, organizations, individuals and communities.
The city organizes a general environmental sanitation campaign in response to the "Green - Clean - Beautiful Sunday" movement on roads, public areas, vacant land plots that still have environmental problems, especially in areas serving the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival.
At the same time, implement the Week of dredging and clearing sewers and drainage ditches to contribute to reducing urban flooding before this year's rainy season.
On this occasion, the City People's Committee organized the planting of 115 green trees along Thang Long street, contributing to strengthening urban green space and improving the environmental landscape.
