On January 10, in the community yard of Phieng Pha village, Chieng Lao commune, the "Highland Green Market" was organized, attracting thousands of people and tourists to participate.


The fair gathers 13 booths displaying and introducing typical products of the highlands such as brocade, field rice, stone honey, dried meat, river fish, forest vegetables, cakes and shoes, corn wine...
The market space is built of bamboo and rattan, roofed with leaves, bearing the rustic features of a highland market. Here, people and tourists not only buy clean and safe products but also enjoy traditional cuisine, immerse themselves in dances and unique folk songs of ethnic minorities.


Besides buying and selling activities, the market is also bustling with many folk games such as cake and shoe throwing contests, crossbow shooting, tu lu, community cultural exchange, creating a bustling and connected atmosphere.
Ms. Lo Thi Ngoc (Muong La commune), a tourist attending the fair, shared: "The goods here are very clean and green. The market space with leaf houses and bamboo creates a very unique feeling, true to the nature of the highlands, making me and many people excited.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Highland Green Market is an opportunity for local people to introduce typical products, promote the image of their homeland, and at the same time create more livelihoods and increase income for people.

Mr. Vu Minh Thai, Chairman of Chieng Lao Commune People's Committee, said: "Not only does the market have economic significance, it also contributes to improving the spiritual life of the people, arousing national pride, preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity. This is also a direction to develop a sustainable economy associated with community tourism in the area.

The green market in the highlands of Chieng Lao commune will be maintained and organized periodically on the 10th of every month, expected to become an attractive cultural and tourist rendezvous of the highlands of Muong La region.
