On June 14, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to inspect and urge the implementation of targets and tasks of the Socio-Economic Development Project associated with security and defense protection in the Central Highlands (Project 104) in the province.
Project 104 issued by the Prime Minister in 2023, aims to create sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minorities, care for their material and spiritual lives, and promptly resolve internal conflicts. Thereby, contributing to ensuring security, defense and sustainable development for the Central Highlands region.
After the project was issued, Dak Lak has developed an implementation plan. However, from May 2024 to now, the implementation process has encountered many difficulties.
According to the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, in 2024, 15/87 targets have not met requirements, mainly related to the livelihoods of ethnic minorities, such as housing, residential land and production land.
Faced with this situation, the Provincial People's Committee decided to establish an inspection team to focus on evaluating the progress and results of the project; identifying problems in mechanisms and policies - especially in the allocation of residential land and production land to ethnic minorities.
The delegation will also collect opinions from departments, branches and localities to propose solutions to remove difficulties and improve the effectiveness of project implementation.
The inspection results will help the province clearly identify bottlenecks to promptly adjust policies, ensuring sustainable development goals associated with maintaining local security and defense.
Dak Lak is located in the center of the Central Highlands, with an important strategic position in many fields for the region and the whole country. The province has 49 ethnic groups with 34.37% of the population being ethnic minorities.
