Efforts to do well in vocational training
In recent times, the Dak Mil District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center has performed excellently in elementary vocational training and training under 3 months for rural workers in the area.
Specifically, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Dak Mil District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center organized 12 vocational training classes for rural workers with 420 participants.
Of these, there are 7 agricultural vocational training classes with 245 students, 5 non-agricultural classes with 175 students. However, the center still faces many difficulties in implementing propaganda work on vocational training for rural workers which is still limited.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen - Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Dak Mil district - confirmed: "Some facilities and people do not have a correct and full awareness of the need to learn a trade and change careers".
According to Mr. Tuyen, a part of the people still have a mentality of relying on and waiting for policies. Agricultural production is mainly based on traditional methods, not boldly applying scientific and technological advances to production.
"The staff and teachers doing vocational training are still lacking, mostly part-time, 90% of teachers still have to be hired from specialized agencies and schools" - Mr. Tuyen shared.
Need to further improve training quality
The biggest wish of the people of Dak Mil district today is to be properly trained in key professions such as farming and animal husbandry to develop the household economy.
Mr. Trieu Van Kim (43 years old, residing in Dak Mil district) has 1 hectare of coffee. Mr. Kim wants to grow more durian to improve his family's economy.
After being introduced to the durian growing and care technique class of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education, Mr. Kim immediately registered to attend.
"After completing the course, I intercropped more than 20 durian trees in my coffee garden. Thanks to the knowledge I learned, I have mastered how to plant, care for and prevent diseases on durian trees.
I think that, in addition to training traditional professions, the authorities need to be creative and bold in training new, more potential professions. Through that, people will have choices and innovate their thinking when choosing a career," said Mr. Kim.
According to the leader of Dak Mil District People's Committee, the District People's Committee has requested the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education to advise the district to choose a number of new occupations that are more practical to the needs of the people.
In which, the units develop the curriculum and submit it to the competent authority for inclusion in training. From there, open a number of elementary training classes and regular training and prioritize vocational training for ethnic minority workers, workers from poor households, near-poor households...
The Center needs to build and improve the efficiency and quality of vocational training for rural workers and meet the rate of elementary vocational training and training under 3 months for communes that meet new rural standards, gradually striving for communes to meet model new rural standards.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen - Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Dak Mil district, the unit is focusing on disseminating policies and regulations to local people to encourage them to participate in vocational training.
Especially for ethnic minorities, poor and near-poor households, policy households, and women. Thereby, gradually improving the quality of rural labor, contributing to the development of household economy.
