Proposal to invest more than 1,205 billion VND in road in Lam Dong

PHAN TUẤN |

Lam Dong - The authorities have just proposed to appraise the investment policy, capital sources... for the project to upgrade and renovate DT721 route with a scale of more than 1,205 billion VND.

On March 29, the Traffic Project Management Board sent a document to the Department of Finance and the People's Committee of Lam Dong province requesting appraisal of the investment proposal report, appraisal of capital sources and the ability to balance capital for the project to upgrade and renovate DT721 road, from Km16+600 to Km49+500.

The construction site is in Da Huoai district, Lam Dong province with a total estimated investment of more than 1,205 billion VND from the provincial budget.

According to the Traffic Project Management Board, this project belongs to Group B traffic project and Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee is the project investment decision maker. The total length of the route is more than 27.5km.

Regarding the scale of the regular road section ( sparsely populated residential areas, rice fields), the roadbed is 15.5m wide, the road surface is 12m wide. The median strip is painted with a 0.5m wide line. The reinforced concrete embankment is 2m wide, the earthen embankment (concrete reinforced concrete) is 1m wide.

The section through the center of Da Teh town (Km16+600 - Km17+885) has a roadbed width of 21.1m, road surface width of 12m. The median strip between the paint lines is 0.5m wide. The reinforced embankment is 2m wide. The sidewalk and lane markings have a total width of 6.6m.

Of which, the cost of site clearance is 208.374 billion VND; the construction cost is 766,973 billion VND... The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2028.

According to the assessment, currently, DT721 route only meets the standards of a grade IV mountainous road with a narrow cross-section, causing difficulties for vehicles to circulate.

Therefore, most vehicles from the northwestern districts of Lam Dong province such as Dam Rong, Lac Duong and Da Lat city must move along National Highway 20.

This has caused traffic volume on National Highway 20 to increase, especially on dangerous mountain passes such as Bao Loc Pass, Chuoi Pass... increasing the risk of traffic insecurity.

According to the Lam Dong Provincial Traffic Project Management Board, the investment in upgrading DT721 route will help reduce traffic flow and reduce pressure on National Highway 20.

At that time, vehicles can choose DT725 and DT726 routes connecting to DT721 to move to Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai and the southern provinces.

The project aims to complete the planning for the development of Vietnam's road transportation, while creating an East-West connection axis between the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong and Binh Phuoc.

The upgrading of the route not only promotes the efficiency of synchronous exploitation with the invested sections but also contributes to reducing the load on National Highway 20, National Highway 14 and Tan Phu - Bao Loc Expressway.

The project will also promote socio-economic development, tourism and ensure national security and defense, especially in Da Huoai district.
