Unstable operating signal lights
According to Lao Dong Newspaper on November 19, on many streets in Dong Hoi Ward, most traffic lights are still operating normally.
However, according to people's reflection, in recent days, some lamp posts have appeared unstable, when turned off, even losing signal many times. Some lamp posts do not even have signal wires, causing difficulties for drivers when traveling through intersections.
Not only in Dong Hoi, in Nam Dong Ha ward, the situation of signal lights not working or operating intermittently has lasted for many days but has not been resolved.
At Truong Chinh intersection with Hung Vuong Street in Nam Dong Ha Ward, one direction has traffic lights, the other direction is damaged.
At many times, people have to observe the flow of vehicles to move through the intersection, which poses a very high risk of collision, especially during rush hour and at night.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, a representative of the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Tri province said that the traffic light system has contributed significantly to traffic regulation, minimizing accidents and ensuring traffic order and safety on roads.
This is one of the indispensable means of signaling, helping to control the flow of vehicles, minimizing conflicts at intersections.

However, during the long-term exploitation process, many signal light clusters have degraded, operate unstably or have completely stopped operating.
A representative of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee said that this situation directly affects the observation and handling of traffic participants' situations, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents, especially at intersections with high traffic density.
People in many areas also expressed concern when having to move through intersections without traffic lights, especially in the evening or when the weather is bad, causing limited visibility.
Urgent repairs
Faced with this situation, the Department of Construction and the standing agency of the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Tri province have coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police and the People's Committees of communes and wards to review the entire status of the traffic light system.
The results showed that there were 72 damaged light clusters that needed to be repaired. Of which, the northern area of Quang Tri province has 39 clusters, with a repair cost of more than 2.2 billion VND. The southern area of Quang Tri province has 33 clusters, with a repair cost of more than 1.7 billion VND.
Based on the proposals of the units, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to allocate funding to carry out repairs in 2025. The repair includes replacing bulbs, wires, controls, re-checking the electrical system and synchronizing all equipment to ensure stable and safe operation.
Currently, the Department of Construction is directing construction units to urgently deploy, with the goal of completing the entire project in 2025. The representative of this agency said that the repair not only ensures traffic safety but also contributes to urban beautification, creating a more civilized and modern landscape.
People hope that after completion, the traffic light system will operate stably, minimizing the risk of accidents and making travel in the province more convenient and safer.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that the traffic light cluster at the Tran Hung Dao - Pham Van Dong - To Huu intersection (Dong Hoi ward) had not been operating for many days, making traffic through this area difficult. After that, the local authorities fixed the problem here.
