On August 14, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the important contribution of the Provincial Police has contributed to enhancing the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Public Security.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that through the revolutionary stages, in wartime as well as peacetime, in favorable or difficult times, generations of officers and soldiers of Dien Bien Police always uphold their steadfast political will, absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people.


Recognizing and highly appreciating the achievements of the Provincial Police over the years, Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong believes that, with a glorious heroic tradition and high political determination, the Provincial Police force will overcome difficulties and challenges, continue to be exemplary, and take the lead in excellently completing the task of ensuring security and order.
Through the resistance wars, Dien Bien Provincial Police have always been the "steel barrier" on the front lines, participating in suppressing reactions, killing spies, protecting the safety of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, coordinating border protection, supporting the security of the South and performing international duties.

Many heroic examples have fallen or been injured while on duty, leaving a strong mark in history.
According to Colonel Vu Van Dau - Director of Dien Bien Provincial Police, entering the period of innovation, the Provincial Police continue to affirm their mettle and proactively fight against all types of crimes, especially transnational drug crimes, superstition, "S own State"... At the same time, the unit promotes international cooperation with Lao and Chinese Police to grasp the situation from afar, dismantle many large networks...

Over the past 20 years, the "All people protect national security" movement in the province has built over 2,000 People's Security groups, 155 Civil Protection Committees, and 65 Youth Shock Teams... From this movement, thousands of valuable newspapers have been provided, hundreds of wanted subjects have been arrested or surrendered.
On this occasion, the President awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to 4 individuals; the Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to 22 individuals; the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to 3 individuals.


Also on the morning of August 14, Dien Bien province held a ceremony to name the street "Pham Van Cuong" in Pom La village, Muong Thanh ward.
Heroic martyr Pham Van Cuong - an officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Lai Chau Provincial Police now Dien Bien Provincial Police) - heroically sacrificed himself when he and his teammates solved the case and dismantled a transnational drug ring from the Golden Triangle area through Laos to Vietnam.
Heroic martyr Pham Van Cuong (born on August 3, 1976, hometown of Hai Phong city) died on October 6, 2001, at Km 17 - National Highway 279 (Na Hai village, Sam Mon commune, Dien Bien province).
