On the evening of July 30, a strong earthquake occurred in Bao Lac commune, causing panic among many people. Local authorities are reviewing and statistically analyzing damage, initially not recording any impact on key projects.
Talking to reporters, a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee confirmed the information and assessed that there is a possibility that an earthquake has just occurred in the area.
According to a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee, at the time of the phenomenon, people heard a loud explosion, followed by clear shaking.
First there was a loud explosion, then very strong vibrations. Houses from 2 floors upwards all felt the shaking very clearly," said a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee.
Recorded from people, Mr. Trieu Van Chien (Bao Lac commune) said that when his family was eating rice, the whole house suddenly shook.
My family was eating rice when the tremors occurred, the whole house shook. By now everything has stabilized, but everyone is still quite worried," Mr. Chien shared.
According to Bao Lac Commune People's Committee, through initial inspection, key projects in the area have not recorded damage or impact due to vibrations.
For some other areas, local authorities are continuing to contact and review to collect statistics, grasp the situation and determine damage (if any).
Local representatives also said that in recent days, the area of Bao Lac commune has hardly experienced heavy rain. Therefore, the vibration phenomenon occurred, surprising many people.
Previously, on September 10, 2024, the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center of the Institute of Geophysics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 occurring in the Bao Lac area, Cao Bang province.
According to specialized agencies, the earthquake had its epicenter at coordinates 22.895 degrees North latitude and 105.831 degrees East longitude, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km. This event is assessed to have a disaster risk level of 0.
