Helping the poor improve their lives
Mr. Y Du Drak Eban, residing in Dak Dro commune, Krong No district, is one of the households in difficult circumstances in the area. For many years, his family has had to live in a seriously degraded level 4 house.
Both he and his wife are middle-aged, and their lives depend on each other because their children work far away and their finances are not very well off.
Mr. Y Du shared that at the end of 2023, my family received a breeding cow from the State. Every day I take the cows to the fields to graze and take good care of them. By 2025, the first breeding cow will continue to breed regularly every year.
"Thanks to a stable income from raising cows, I will try to save to renovate the house and have a solid place to live for my husband and I when I am old" - Mr. Y Du shared more.
Mr. Y Du's case is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction that Krong No district is implementing.
As of 2024, the whole district has only 538 poor households, accounting for 2.72% of the total number of households (a decrease of 210 households compared to 2023, reaching 132.5% of the plan assigned by the province).

In Cu Jut district, the national target program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2021-2025, has also been effectively implemented, achieving many positive results.
Hundreds of ethnic households have been promptly supported with residential land, production land, clean water, housing, livelihoods... From the beginning of 2022 until now, Mr. Y Tem Kpor's family (Cu Jut district) has been given breeding cows, supported to renovate coffee gardens and most recently, built houses.
These livelihoods are the motivation for Mr. Y Tem's family to escape poverty sustainably and improve the quality of life.
Mr. Y Tem said: "In recent years, the local government has supported me with breeding cows and 70 million VND to build a new house. I focus on working and producing agriculture, so my family's economy has improved, escaping poverty."
"Without resources from policy programs and support from local authorities, we do not know when my family will escape poverty" - Mr. Y Tem added.

Impressive poverty reduction work
Mr. Tran Mai Viet - Deputy Head of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department of Cu cut District commented that the national target program for poverty reduction in the locality will be even more effective when local authorities at both levels operate.
The commune level will directly manage and coordinate resources, avoiding dispersation and spreading. When assigned to a management unit, it will be more convenient to implement policy programs.
"It should be assigned directly to the commune level for implementation, so that people can directly benefit, avoid overlapping as before, to be both easy to receive and to promote more obvious efficiency", Mr. Tran Mai Viet suggested.

In 2025, Dak Nong province strives to reduce the poverty rate by 1% or more (average 1 -1.5%/year). If this target is achieved, the total poverty reduction rate in the 4 years of 2022 - 2025 in the locality will be 9.01% (average annual reduction of 2.25%), reaching the target set by the Resolution of the Party Congress.
The leader of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee said: "During the implementation of the sustainable poverty reduction target, the locality will continue to focus on effectively implementing key solutions.
Dak Nong province identifies strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels, along with close coordination in the implementation of departments, branches, authorities at all levels and the active participation of mass organizations as a key factor in implementing poverty reduction programs and policies.
The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that cadres and party members need to raise awareness and sense of responsibility for policies, guidelines and policies on poverty reduction, towards the goal of "All join hands for the poor, no one is left behind".
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province will continue to synchronously deploy and effectively integrate resources to implement national target programs, ensuring that they are suitable for the specific characteristics and conditions of each locality. Thereby, avoiding the situation of scattered, dispersed and wasteful investment.
