Due to the impact of heavy rain, rapid flooding combined with a large number of waterway vehicles, on September 20 and September 24, in Cao Lanh ward, there were 02 landslides on the Tien River bank in Group 1, Tan Tich and Tinh Hung hamlets, Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province.
The emergency, dangerous landslide is about 500 m long, eating into the mainland about 30 - 70 m deep, currently causing no human casualties but property damage of 35 households with 132 people whose houses and land have collapsed into the river.
The remaining section, about 1,600 m long, is at risk of landslides at any time, affecting the safety of life and property of about 285 households with over 900 people.

Decision 895/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province on declaring an emergency situation of landslides on the Tien River bank on Nguyen Huong street (Tan Tich hamlet and Tinh Hung hamlet), Cao Lanh ward has set out 4 emergency measures that need to be applied immediately to respond and overcome the consequences to prevent and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Measures include: need to organize emergency handling of severely eroded sections and affected neighboring areas, implement signs and blockade of dangerous areas; closely monitor landslide developments, immediately deploy non-construction solutions, ready-made rescue plans, support people to evacuate when landslides continue to occur, ensure absolute safety of life and minimize property damage to people.
Along with that, widely announce on the mass media about the landslide situation so that people know and proactively prevent it; strictly prohibit vehicles from passing through the area; urgently deploy surveys, determine the scope of impact to propose timely construction measures to prevent landslides, protect the lives and property of people in landslide areas.
The People's Committee of Dong Thap province assigned the People's Committee of Cao Lanh ward to urgently organize forces to be on duty to closely monitor the developments of landslides and subsidence; support and dismantle the relocation of houses and structures, mobilize people in dangerous areas to move to safe places; install signs prohibiting vehicles and people from passing in the area, ensuring the motto "four on-site" in the face of any unexpected situations that may occur, ensuring absolute safety of life and minimizing property damage to people.
Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to deploy necessary solutions to prevent landslides arising while waiting for implementing fundamental treatment solutions; coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to organize a campaign to collect, receive and allocate legal resources according to regulations to promptly support affected households to soon stabilize their lives.
Based on the results of the survey and assessment and the proposed plan, the Department of Agriculture and Environment advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue an order to build emergency works to handle and overcome landslides according to regulations before September 30, 2025.
