On May 19, the Hanoi People's Committee and Vingroup Group jointly started the National Highway 1A spatial axis project associated with urban embellishment and reconstruction - the section from Ring Road 1 to Cau Gie intersection.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027 with a scale of 16 lanes, the most modern in Vietnam, opening up a completely new development space for the Capital in the era of urbanization and inter-regional connectivity.

The National Highway 1A spatial axis project, the section from Ring Road 1 to Cau Gie intersection, has a total length of about 36.3km, passing through 18 wards and communes of Hanoi city with a total investment of nearly 162,000 billion VND.
The starting point of the route connects to Ring Road 1 in the Kim Lien tunnel area, belonging to Kim Lien and Bach Mai wards; the ending point connects to Cau Gie intersection in Chuyen My commune.
The road axis has a cross-section scale of up to 90m, including 10 lanes on the main route and 6 parallel lanes on both sides, the design speed is 80km/h.
According to the plan, the project will complete the construction of works and infrastructure systems in 2027, completing the road traffic network of Hanoi City according to the Capital Plan with a 100-year vision.
In addition to expanding space and increasing travel speed, the project will contribute to reasonable distribution of traffic between ring roads and areas in the city, conveniently connecting the core of the center with major urban areas and the southern area of Hanoi, as well as between the Capital and the southern provinces and coastal areas.
The project also contributes to embellishing and rebuilding urban areas along National Highway 1A and promoting socio-economic development in the areas the project passes through.
To ensure long-term quality, safety and operational efficiency, the project will synchronously apply advanced technologies from the preparation stage to operation.
The survey work is implemented using UAV technology and aviation photography; designing and applying modern 3D models; construction using new technology materials and equipment.
The entire construction process will be supervised by the investor through an online image system. When put into operation, the route will operate on a smart traffic platform with SCADA, CCTV systems and modern management solutions according to international standards.
Providing information about this project, Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Vingroup Group - said: "Infrastructure is the foundation of growth, the driving force leading economic development, expanding opportunities for businesses, improving the quality of life for people and enhancing national competitiveness.
After each large-scale infrastructure project is the trust, expectations of the people and great responsibility for the country's development.
Therefore, Vingroup is very honored and proud to participate in the key project - the National Highway 1A spatial axis project associated with urban embellishment and reconstruction - the section from Ring Road 1 to Cau Gie intersection, with the desire to contribute to the comprehensive reconstruction process of a modern, civilized and synchronous urban development axis, contributing to shaping a new face for the southern gateway area of Hanoi in the future.
In the national development plan, National Highway 1A - Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway is identified as the main economic corridor connecting Hanoi with the southern region and coastal region, focusing on strongly developing supporting industries, logistics and multimodal transport.
The section from Ring Road 1 to Cau Gie intersection is the first phase in the overall project of the National Highway 1A spatial axis associated with urban embellishment and reconstruction in Hanoi city proposed by Vingroup to invest in PPP method, build-transfer (BT) contract type.
In the next phase, Hanoi City and Vingroup Group will continue to study expansion from the Le Duan - Dien Bien Phu intersection in Ba Dinh ward to Dai Co Viet road (Belt Road 1), increasing the total length of the entire route to about 38.8km, connecting the historical center of the Capital with the new growth pole in the south of the city.
After completing the expansion and renovation of the entire route, the space axis of National Highway 1A section passing through Hanoi will contribute to improving the quality of Hanoi's road traffic network, strengthening inter-regional connectivity, and regulating traffic reasonably at the southern gateway.
At the same time, the expansion of National Highway 1A will also promote socio-economic development of the capital, reduce logistics costs, accelerate the urbanization process and form new development spaces along the route, creating a breakthrough development momentum for Hanoi, worthy of a dynamic, modern and sustainable urban area.
