Can Tho - According to the plan, the project to upgrade and expand Tran Van Hoai Street will be completed by July 2025. However, up to now, this project is still in disarray.

Tran Van Hoai Street (Ninh Kieu Ward) is over 500m long, connecting the two main routes of Can Tho City, February 3 and April 30. This is considered one of the beautiful roads in the city center, because the space is airy and clean.

However, during heavy rains or high tides, the road is often flooded, making it difficult for people to travel and do business. It will not be difficult to see vehicles often stalled on the road, causing many people to happily call this the "flooded center" of Tay Do.

At the end of November 2024, Tran Van Hoai Street was upgraded and renovated with a total investment of more than 49.4 billion VND. The project includes items: upgrading and renovating traffic routes with a total length of about 525 m, road routes 40 m. auxiliary items such as sidewalks, drainage systems on both sides of the road; relocating and reusing the public lighting system; renovating and replanting grass...

The expansion and upgrading of Tran Van Hoai Street aims to create aesthetics for the city's central road. Along with that, renovating the drainage system to synchronize infrastructure, improve drainage capacity to reduce local congestion, contributing to improving living conditions for people.

According to the plan, the project to upgrade and expand Tran Van Hoai Street will be completed in July 2025. However, as of July 22, according to the reporter's records, the project still has many tasks and materials left in disarray, and the sidewalks on both sides are quite messy...

Regularly traveling on this route, Ms. Dang Bich Ngoc (Can Tho City) shared: "The road is under construction for a long time but has not been completed yet, making travel very difficult, especially during the rainy season like this. I hope the construction unit will speed up the progress so that people have a spacious road, no longer having to suffer from temporary road closures".

Meanwhile, some traders on Tran Van Hoai Street said that basic trading activities were also affected. "Since the project started, the number of visitors has decreased significantly, especially when it rains, the road is very dirty. When it's sunny, customers are afraid of dusty dust and danger, so few people dare to stop by" - a trader shared.

It is known that the project has only reached more than 70% of the progress.

In a quick exchange with Lao Dong, Mr. Tran Ngoc Thai - Deputy Director of the Ninh Kieu Construction Investment Project Management Board - informed that for projects under construction in the Ninh Kieu area, the unit is urging contractors to speed up the progress. As for the Tran Van Hoai road project, the contractor is urgently constructing the remaining items to spread stone.

"The road is expected to be completed in September this year. However, due to the impact on the power grid relocation system, there are delays. As soon as the relocation is completed, we will urge to speed up the construction progress to complete. We will try to complete this route in 2025" - Mr. Thai added.
