Hiep Binh Phuoc Secondary School (Hiep Binh ward) has a scale of about 14,000 m2, started construction in 2018 with a total investment of 114 billion VND. By 2022, when the project reached about 47% of the workload, the contractor requested to stop construction due to financial difficulties after the COVID-19 epidemic. Although the planning, design and bidding organization have been adjusted, the project has still been abandoned in the middle of vacant land in Van Phuc urban area for nearly 4 years.

The school is designed in a U-shape with 4-story buildings. However, according to records, the project has only completed the rough structure and is waiting for roofing. Due to being abandoned for a long time, bushes and vines grow lushly covering the surrounding area. Inside, the corridor is covered with moss, the stairs leading to the unfinished construction areas, and iron and steel and construction materials are scattered under the thick layer of dust.

Notably, many classrooms, although they have basically taken shape, paved the floor, installed doors, are now degraded, moldy and cracked walls. Some areas are flooded with water, garbage, mud and graffiti due to the lack of security forces on duty.

According to the Thu Duc City Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, the unit is currently seeking opinions from departments and branches to organize bidding for the remaining construction volume of the project. According to the plan, Hiep Binh Phuoc Secondary School is expected to resume construction in the third quarter of this year, opening up hope to solve the classroom thirst for students in the area.
