On September 3, information from Thanh Hoa Department of Construction said that the road project connecting the central area of the province with Tho Xuan Airport is being urgently implemented after many years of stagnation.
Recently, the project has been decided by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to adjust and extend the implementation time, expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The project is divided into 2 component projects, including the section from No Hen bridge to provincial road 514 and the section from provincial road 514 to the road to Tho Xuan Airport. Thanh Hoa Department of Construction is the investor.
In which, the section from No Hen bridge to provincial road 514 has a total investment after adjustment of 1,502 billion VND, an increase of more than 530 billion VND compared to the initial plan.
The section from provincial road 514 to the road to Tho Xuan Airport has a total adjusted investment of 1,837 billion VND, an increase of about 727 billion VND compared to the initial plan.
The two component projects have a total length of about 23km, with a total adjusted investment of more than 3,300 billion VND.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, after the project was adjusted and related procedures were completed, contractors simultaneously restarted, mobilized manpower and machinery to accelerate progress.
In localities where projects pass through such as Tan Ninh, Xuan Du, Hop Tien, Tho Binh, Tho Ngoc and Sao Vang communes, contractors are mobilizing manpower and machinery to level the ground and construct many items.
However, in some locations, the site has been handed over but not continuously, there are still interspersed households and some local problems. This makes it impossible for the contractor to organize synchronous construction.
To ensure the project progress, the investor has requested the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches and localities to complete site clearance by the end of November 2026.
Along with that, the investor requests contractors to closely follow the progress, including striving to complete 12 bridges on the route by the end of 2026 and hand over the entire project according to the plan.
Previously, the road project connecting the center of Thanh Hoa province with Tho Xuan Airport was approved by Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 4492/QD-UBND dated October 31, 2019. The initial investor was Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Transport, now Thanh Hoa Department of Construction.
The project is implemented to shorten the distance and travel time from the central area of Thanh Hoa province to Tho Xuan Airport, forming a traffic axis serving urban development to the West and contributing to completing the regional transport infrastructure.
However, from 2021 to now, only one side of the road has been completed, and vehicles can circulate conveniently. The remaining road section has only been constructed for some items and has been temporarily suspended due to lack of capital and problems in site clearance.
