As Lao Dong reported, at around 4:30 a.m. on May 13, the quarry of Thien Son Tuyen Quang Company Limited in Group 10, Nong Tien Ward, Tuyen Quang City suddenly collapsed. The incident did not cause any human casualties but buried many vehicles and machinery for mining.
Thousands of cubic meters of rock have collapsed to the foot of the mountain, burying 2 excavators, of which 1 was completely buried. Many large rocks weighing tens of tons are rolling all over the mine.
On May 14, speaking with reporters, a representative of Tuyen Quang City People's Committee said that immediately after receiving the information, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Police and related departments went to the scene to inspect and clarify the incident.
"The authorities have requested Thien Son Tuyen Quang Company Limited to stop operating in the collapsed area, develop a plan to overcome the mine collapse and must be approved. After the repair is completed, it must be allowed to exploit again and must also be approved by the authorities," informed a representative of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang City.
According to the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang City, the specialized agency has collected documents and reviewed the entire site according to the functional tasks of each department from blasting activities, site clearance, and exploitation processes to clarify the shortcomings and violations (if any).
It is known that the landslide occurred in the area where mining has stopped and Thien Son Tuyen Quang Company Limited is completing the procedures to close the mine.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on May 7, a work accident occurred at a quarry of Binh Ca Mining and Production Construction Investment Cooperative (Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang) in coordination with Son Hai Group, causing the death of a worker.
After the incident, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tuyen Quang province issued a document requesting mineral exploitation units to proactively review and implement measures to ensure safety.
Within just 1 week, many serious accidents and incidents at quarries in Tuyen Quang have shown the need to tighten the mining process as well as regulations on ensuring safety.
