Tan Thanh is located in the south of Son Duong district, on National Highway 2C with many rocky mountains with large reserves of limestone, blue stone, and white stone. smooth traffic and neighboring Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho provinces are very good conditions, so stone mining activities here take place vigorously.
With a radius of less than 4km in Tan Thanh commune, there are 4 stone quarries licensed for exploitation. Of which, 3 quarries of Huy Linh Company Limited, Nhat Tan Company Limited, and Tu Thanh Phat Mining Company Limited are operating vigorously, causing many consequences that have upset people.
Living next to the quarry of Huy Linh Company Limited and Nhat Tan Company Limited, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan (Vinh Son hamlet) is always in a state of insecurity.
"Previously, people's lives were very peaceful. Since the quarry was put into operation, there have been many changes. Every time the mine explodes, it is a severe shake-up, feeling like a house shaking, the cracks are getting wider. A few days ago, I was alone at home when I heard a loud explosion. The house shook with everyone. Everyone is extremely worried about affecting their health and lives," Ms. Xuan said indignantly.
According to Ms. Xuan, the situation of people living insecurely and arrangedly has been going on for a long time. The two quarries are located close together and are operating vigorously, so the consequences are huge. She hopes to have a plan to ensure the safety of the people. If this situation continues, it will be impossible to settle down and make a living.

A similar situation also occurred in the area near the quarry of Tu Thanh Phat Daring Company Limited in Luc Lieu hamlet. In addition to the earthquake, the giant "flying rocks" after the blast haunted local people.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu said: "A once peaceful countryside with 3 quarries loses peace. At Thanh Phat quarry, people on both sides of the quarry walls had cracks in their houses. Every 5 pm, there is a dusty fog, the sound of explosions from the sky makes everyone scared. After being put in the water for a while, the dust will be reduced and then return to the site".
According to Ms. Lieu, because of the quarries, people's lives have been disrupted. The consequences for the environment are obvious, not to mention the danger to life when the house cracks, sinks, and has rocks scattered after the blast. In particular, the elderly and children are worried every time blasters break rocks.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Phung Ngoc Vinh - Chairman of Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee said that the locality often requires stone quarries to operate safely, without affecting people's lives.
"In addition to the request from the commune, the People's Committee of the district or the Department has also conducted many inspections. In fact, it is very difficult to check the blasting activities, because when coming to check the amount of mines used, it will be different from the daily exploitation time.
In the coming time, the locality will clarify the people's reflections. Because the authority is limited, there will be reports to superiors for consideration and resolution," the leader added.
