While domestic airfares have been continuously increasing, many passengers have proactively sought alternative travel options. In particular, trains are gradually becoming a worth considering choice thanks to reasonable costs and improved service quality.
Grasping this trend, the Railway industry has promoted many innovative solutions, from upgrading train cars, improving amenities, to implementing flexible fare policies to meet the diverse needs of passenger groups, from students, workers to tourists and families. The goal is to maintain stable growth momentum, striving to achieve an increase of over 8% over the same period last year.

Despite only entering the summer vacation, the number of passengers choosing to travel by rail has recorded a significant increase compared to the same period last year. According to a representative of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, many high-quality trains on short routes connected to tourist attractions have been operated at full capacity early.
Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh - General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation said: "With our consistent goal of implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, especially the Ministry of Finance in the implementation process, we strive to achieve a growth rate of 8% in 2025 and double-digit growth in the following years".

To meet the growing demand for passengers during the peak season, the unit has proactively developed a plan to increase trains. On the North - South route alone, 6 more pairs of Thong Nhat ships will be added each day. Other local routes have also increased by 4 pairs of trains or more, to serve the maximum travel needs, especially during holidays and weekends.
Not only focusing on quantity, the work of ensuring safety and quality of the journey has also been strengthened. Many synchronous solutions have been deployed to ensure trains operate on time, safely and effectively - creating peace of mind for passengers throughout the summer vacation.
Not only focusing on expanding the frequency of train operations on key routes and areas, the railway industry also focuses on diversifying products and services and improving passenger experience. Many improvements have been implemented such as improving sanitation conditions, upgrading train car interior, and adding amenities to serve passengers throughout the journey. In particular, the on-ship attendance team was selected and trained systematically, with a professional style, to provide more attentive and friendly service.
Recently, the railway industry has continuously put into operation high-quality passenger trains, including the Hanoi - Hai Phong route, recording a 7% increase in passenger numbers and a 44% increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2024. According to the captain of LP5 (Hanoi - Hai Phong route), Tran Thanh Viet said: "To best serve passengers, we expect to meet the travel needs of passengers, thereby increasing revenue."
In addition, the Vietnam - China international passenger route has also been restored and recorded a stable increase in the number of passengers each week.
With strategic steps and investment in service quality, the Vietnamese railway industry is opening up a promising future, bringing safe and memorable journeys to tourists, contributing strongly to the overall development of the country.
