Potential risk of traffic insecurity
According to Lao Dong, the roadside and embankment of the Te Tieu - An Phu road (My Duc district - Hanoi) with a length of hundreds of meters have collapsed, the soil and rocks are continuously falling into the fields. Some road surfaces are showing signs of cracking because the roadbed is no longer there. The roadside has collapsed, creating deep ravines that are dangerous for vehicles passing through.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung - a resident of My Duc district said that when storm No. 3 (Yagi) hit, the road surface of Te Tieu - An Phu was flooded. The local government had to put up ropes to prohibit vehicles from entering the area.
After the water receded, the road collapsed heavily, and people had to report to the authorities to find temporary reinforcement measures to make it safer for vehicles to travel. ‘‘Currently, the damaged road area has been cordoned off and warning signs have been placed. However, another dangerous factor is that this road has no lights at night. People passing by are both in the dark and have to be vigilant to avoid other vehicles to avoid falling into the abyss,’’ Mr. Tung shared.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Lan - living in Hop Thanh commune, My Duc district, people have had to endure dust and pollution in sunny weather and mud in rainy weather for a long time waiting for the road to be constructed and repaired. However, after a short time, the new road soon deteriorated, even posing more dangers than the old road.
“This road has been sluggishly constructed for many years. Before that, people just hoped that the road would be repaired quickly so that they could travel more conveniently. But after just over a month, the road has already sunk dangerously,” Ms. Lan could not help but feel indignant.
Need urgent repair
Living near the area, Mr. Tran Van Thieu shared that when traveling on the road with many potholes, he is very worried about collisions, leading to accidents. "I hope that the competent authorities can rebuild the embankment of the road, so that people can travel conveniently and safely, without landslides. Otherwise, at night, motorbikes and cars passing each other is extremely dangerous, it is very easy to fall into the fields," said Mr. Thieu.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Head of the Urban Management Division of My Duc district - said: "The cause of the roadbed collapse was determined to be due to prolonged heavy rains causing water to rise and damage the road foundation that had been built a long time ago. Currently, vehicles are still moving normally, the road surface is not affected."
Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha added that the Urban Management Department has also submitted a project to the District People's Committee to build a project to re-embank the road that is sinking and sinking. After being approved, the contractor will carry out the repair of the landslide and damaged area and complete it as soon as possible.
Faced with the current serious subsidence of the road, and not knowing when it will be repaired. Not only Mr. Tung, Mr. Thieu or Ms. Lan, but also many people living in My Duc district, every day hope that this road will soon be repaired and the embankment reinforced so that people's travel and daily activities will be safer and more convenient.
