Phan Dinh Phung Street, the main traffic axis connecting Vi Thuy and Vinh Tuong communes of Can Tho City, is becoming a nightmare for local people. With a width of only about 5.5m, this road has seriously degraded, the road surface is peeling, conged, and full of "potholes" in a row. This situation is dangerous and seriously affects people's lives.

During the rainy season, deep holes are covered by large puddles, making travel extremely dangerous. Mr. Le Vu Khanh (Vi Thuy commune) shared that it is difficult to avoid potholes, especially when trucks continuously run through, further damaging the road surface.
Accidents happen frequently, especially early in the morning, Mr. Nguyen Van Diem said that the road has been degraded for more than a year, many people going to the market have fallen and had to return. When it is sunny, the dust flies everywhere, but when it rains, it is muddy and slippery.
The deterioration of the road not only causes danger but also disrupts the lives of households on both sides of the road, especially in Hamlet 9, Vi Thuy commune.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Cuong, who lives next to the road, said that his family had to cover 2-3 layers of fabric to prevent dust. However, the dust still covered the house and swept everywhere. During the rainy season, mud flooded into the house, making the door only open when necessary. Many families have to close all day, even relatives come to visit and think that no one is home.

To temporarily fix the problem, many households have dumped soil, rocks, or cement to fill the holes in front of their houses. However, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, this method was only solved for a few days and then failed due to trucks passing by.
According to the Management Board of the Can Tho City Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project, this road has been patched many times. However, due to the lack of a drainage system and the high density of trucks, the road surface quickly deteriorated again.
This unit said it will request contractors to maintain and repair the road to ensure the safety of the people. However, people hope that the government will soon have a definitive solution, not only temporarily patching the vi vi but also needing to reinvest in a drainage system and rebuild the road surface to ensure safety and long-term quality of life for the community.
